About Me
I'm Karam Filfilan, an experienced editor, journalist and content strategist specialising in HR, business strategy and the future of work.
With 13 years experience in publishing - and four of those as a freelancer - I know how to create compelling content that works.
I started my editorial career working for one of the UK's biggest providers of graduate careers advice, editing print magazines, creating newsletters and building its (then nascent) social media following.
After a stint at a leading provider of youth careers advice, I switched sides to join a challenger HR and leadership magazine. Here, I quickly rose to deputy editor helping the title win several industry awards, before taking on the business' Middle Eastern proposition and launching a new magazine and annual HR conference in the region.
As part of my remit, I worked with global partners like City & Guilds Group, Heidrick & Struggles, AMS, CIPD, Phillips and London Business School on contract publishing, podcasts, events and speaking opportunities. I also interviewed thought leaders from Sir Clive Woodward and Matthew Syed to Alain de Botton and Amy Edmondson.
Since going freelance, I have worked with publishers on both featured and sponsored content, multinationals on content strategy and whitepapers, and on editorial projects large and small.
I pride myself on my adaptability, approachability and empathy. I know how to get to the heart of a story - and my network of HR leaders, academics and PRs help me articulate it.
I'm now based in Sheffield after seven years living in London.
